Club History

The Lincoln Northeast Kiwanis club was chartered in 1964. Our motto is "Serving the Children of the World".

Lincoln Northeast Kiwanis club membership still includes one very active charter member, Ken Schmidt. The club has changed alot since it was chartered in 1964, when men only were allowed to be members of Kiwanis International.  In 1987, at the Kiwanis International Convention in Washington D.C., history was made when women were voted into membership of Kiwanis International.

Our members are very active within the club, District (NE-IA) and International. We have many who have held the position of Lt. Governor for our Division and have two members who hold the title of Past Governor of the NE-IA District, Milford Hanna and Clint McDonald. In August 2016, Sue Waldren was elected Vice Governor at our District Convention. Sue will be Governor in 2018-19.

On October 1, 2015, history will be made when the first woman, Sue Petrisin became President of Kiwanis International for the 2015-16 Kiwanis year.  In October 2016 our very own NE-IA Kiwanis member Jane Erickson was installed as President of Kiwanis International for 2016-17.
